fashion gets political, and you should too.

Today, I went back through my September issue of Vogue to read the stories (because, of course, the first time around all any girl does--as far as I know--is look at the pictures) and found the most interesting feature. Several people associated with this issue of the magazine were asked what they anticipated most about the upcoming election. Each answer varied, and I saw traces of both sarcasm, in some, and serious calls for change in others.

However, the most inspiring response came from photographer, Arthur Elgort, that said what excited him most was 'To exercise [his] right to vote.'

I completely agree. This is my first presidential election that I have ever had the chance to vote in, and the first time I've voted whatsoever. Although I definitely have my opinions, I think that no matter which candidate you choose, it is important to understand how much power each one of us has.

Congrats Season 5...

For anyone who loyally follows Project Runway, I hope that you would agree that this fifth season has been entertaining, yes, but not nearly as impressive as past seasons. In the show's past, we have seen beautiful, chic garments from Austin Scarlett, Santino Rice, Nick Verreos, Rami Kashou, and Christian Siriano. However, the contestants on this fifth season haven't shown much innovation (or even good taste) whatsoever. But that all changed last night with the "Fashion That Drives You" challenge when the remaining designers had to construct a garment entirely made of auto parts. This seemed like the setup for more disastrous outfits and another reason to think, "how did these people get onto the show?"

Well, thank you designers! After watching the beautiful clothes on the runway, I was happy to admit I had spoken too soon. Here you see Leanne's winning garment, which is made completely out of black leather from a car's interior and is lined with frayed pieces of seat belt. It is refreshing to see this beautiful, sophisticated, and raw talent put to use! THIS is what gets you to New York Fashion Week.

time warner is ruining my television addiction...

Because Regency Park's apartment complex decided that their cheapest* 2-bedroom layout could NEVER be equipped with DirecTV, I will resent them forever (or at least until my lease is up).

But...right now, at 1: 53 am, I am watching the newest episode of the hit, and one of my favorite shows, Project Runway. And just so you know, it premiers at 8pm every Wednesday on Bravo. The reason why I am watching this way too late? Because Time Warner Cable is overpriced and overrated.

Anyways, I needed to just get the complaint of cable television off my chest before I post later on the actual episode of Project Runway (which I think is the best so far, at least of this season).

*by cheapest, i mean the least expensive

welcome.

In thinking about both my immediate and distant future, there are two feelings that surface and overwhelm me: I am happy and intimidated. Finally diving into the electives that all college students look forward to seems to have sparked these emotions.

Balancing an enthusiasm for the topics you're studying with practical soul searching about the career you'll chose is the ultimate, "oh shit, what am I doing?"

Through and through, I want my readers to feel as if they are exploring right along with me. Entertainment is everywhere, as long as you're looking. And in the spirit of my Entertainment Journalism syllabus and my professor, Michael Barnes, just know that "it is all in the adventure of education."
