Not so exciting anymore...

The past two weeks of "Top Chef" have been anything but entertaining. In the show's past, the most exciting challenges have involved off-the-wall ingredients, ridiculous time constraints, or super tight budgets. Unfortunately, it seems as if the producers have run out of ideas this season.

I mean, at the very least, the competition should involve some type of cooking, right? Well, last week the chefs were split up into two teams and told to make a Thanksgiving dinner for the Foo Fighters, which sounded good to me. But wait! They were only given microwaves to cook in. Do you even cook in a microwave? Aren't you really just warming? If you want to make if difficult, judges, why not have the teams cook in tour buses? It's just an idea.

And this past Wednesday, the chefs were asked to prepare a dish, which they would have to later demonstrate on camera in less than three minutes. From there, the hosts of the "Today Show" would judge the three finalists' dishes live on their show. OK, so that sort of makes sense, but when did this competition become about being the next Rachel Ray? The show is "Top Chef," not "The Next Food Network Star."

Honestly, I do love "Top Chef," but if the next few episodes don't start becoming more about cooking and less about...other stuff...I might stop watching altogether. Here's an idea, find whoever thought of the vending machine challenge from Season 2 and make them the head writer.

You took the words right out of my mouth! Actually, I couldn't have said it quite as well as you did, but anyhow, you are right...I was thinking the same thing about Top Chef. Let's get back to some good competitive cooking!!
